Why did my dentist refer me to an endodontist?
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
An endodontist is a dentist who has received two or more additional years of specialty training in endodontic procedures following dental school. Endodontists limit their practices to performing only root canal procedures. Endodontists are trained to treat routine as well as complex endodontic problems, i.e., root canal retreatments, surgeries, separated instrument retrieval, calcified, curved or hidden canals necessitating the use of specialized instruments and treatment. Endodontists also have advanced training in diagnosing and treating complex oral and facial pain and in handling dental emergencies.
