Why do I need a root canal?
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
[back to list of FAQ's]
Root canal therapy becomes necessary when the pulp tissue becomes infected or irreparably damaged. The damage to the pulp tissue may stem from any of the following causes: deep decay, a cracked or chipped tooth, repeated or extensive dental work on a tooth or a blow to the tooth. Occasionally, there are times when a severely broken down tooth with healthy pulp tissue needs root canal treatment in order to be properly restored.
